Two pools accrue once a site is restored. Soil accumulates once tidal exchange returns, so hydrology rather than planting starts the clock. Biomass grows from each planting cohort along a Chapman–Richards curve, scaled by survival. Existing soil carbon inside each footprint is shown as safeguarded stock and is never counted as a removal.
Low and high bounds use the soil-rate range and ±30% on biomass. Natural recruitment is excluded to stay conservative. No leakage, buffer, or baseline-emission deductions are applied, so a Verra VM0033 or Plan Vivo estimate would be lower than this gross figure.
Each item maps to an activity metric or a model input on the FieldDoc activity record. As soil-core and plot data arrive, the atlas swaps Tier 1 defaults for site-measured values and relabels the estimate.
